Solar PV

Our solar electricity system is a highly efficient means of generating electricity for domestic use from the sun's rays, using the most up to date photovoltaic modules.

The solar panels produce electricity from daylight through a process called photovoltaics. "Photo" refers to light and "voltaic" to electricity. Photons are converted to electrons and those same electrons penetrate clouds allowing the PV system to work even on cloudy and overcast days.

You can string together as many individual panels as you desire, depending upon the size of your roof.

Solar panels produce "Direct Current" (DC) electricity. Households use "Alternating Current" (AC) electricity. In order to convert the DC power from the panels to AC, a device called an inverter is used. After the panels, the inverter is the most expensive component in the system. It must the power output of the solar array.

For safety purposes, a DC isolator is required between the solar panels and the inverter. AC isolators are needed by the inverter and by the consumer unit. A total generation meter is also required to measure the output of the array.

The only option for households without solar is to purchase their electricity and be exposed to rising power prices. By installing our Solar electricity system you can still buy electricity but you will have the added option of being able to provide your own and maybe even sell the surplus you generate back into the grid through the feed in tariff.

Solar PV can benefit your home in a number of ways, not only by saving you money, but also by allowing you to generate an income while taking positive steps towards reducing your carbon footprint.

  • Capture the natural energy of the sun to generate electricity
  • Reduce your annual electricity costs by up to 40%
  • Earn up to £1,614 per year index linked and tax free
  • Save energy and significantly cut down your carbon footprint
  • Solar PV works all year round – even when it’s cloudy
